Debut EP from German trio Brandt Brauer Frick on Tartelet Records.
Tartelet Records welcomes yet another new member to the family. This time it´s Brandt Brauer Frick, a group consisting of Daniel Brandt, Jan Brauer and Paul Frick. The first two names have been collaborating for years under the name 'Scott', producing club music with a jazz attitude (EPs on My Best Friend, Fluid Ounce, THE GYM and more). Paul Frick has studied classical and modern compositon with Friedrich Goldmann at Universität der Künste Berlin. Besides experimental pieces for orchestral instruments he also releases house music (EPs on Kalk Pets, THE GYM, 30porumalinha and more). Brandt Brauer Frick make their love for contemporary classical music and deep club music melt into a highly original and powerful stream of sound. With vibraphone, prepared piano, drums, various percussion, Fender Rhodes, bass guitar and analogue synthesizers, the trio creates textures that brings to mind Steve Reich as well as house music and the old-school loop techno. Experimental meets deepness, complexity meets minimalism. The generation of the sound is mostly acoustic – even the bass drum. Brandt Brauer Frick succeeds in athrilling synthesis of club and concert hall.
A1: Iron Man in its original version. It is a hypnotc stamper driven mainly by themes and sounds brought out by metal strings of the piano: plucking them, hiPng them, scratching them, producing harmonic overtones.
A2: Iron Man in the hands of Treplec, the owner of one of the most excitng labels on the scene, Milnormodern. Treplec takes Iron Man through a journey in his inner space and provides a remix which has the significant sound of Treplec. Spaced out minimal jazz with a touch of house. This track keeps going and takes you deep and deeper.
B1: Iron Man gets down and dirty with Lee Jones (MyMy). He embraces the jazzy grooves from Iron Man and turns them into a 8 minute long minimal house bomb. This track keeps you alive all night long and maybe even the day after. Just the track you would expect to hear in one of Lee's amazing sets at Panorama Bar.
